Moonstone is a variety of adularia that derives its name from the Adula massif, in the Lepontine Alps, where it was discovered in 1780 by the naturalist Ermenegildo Pini. It is a mineral of the subclass of tectosilicates belonging to the feldspar group, consisting of rhomboid crystals of a greenish color due to the inclusions of chlorite. It was used by the ancients to capture lunar energy. In ancient Rome, it was believed that it originated from lunar rays that, striking the rock, transformed it. It has always been a stone connected to the feminine universe. According to some legends, in ancient times, fortune tellers dressed as women held a moonstone in their mouths to be able to see the future.
