Manganese is a gray-black metal, very similar in appearance to iron, used for the production of steel and iron. In particular conditions, manganese forms branched structures known as "dendritic", from the Greek word "déndron" "tree". This particular structure is often confused with the fossil trace of a vegetable and for this reason manganese is also called pseudofossil. The pseudofossil is something that does not derive from the fossilization process, like real fossils, but is formed following other processes, such as, for example, the crystallization of a mineral.
