Sodalite is a mineral composed of sodium, chlorine and aluminum and belongs to a group of minerals called the gangrinite-sodalite group. The name literally means sodium stone and is linked to its high content of this element. The typical color is opaque blue with, often, whitish veins of feldspar inside. In the past it was often confused with lapis lazuli, another mineral that has a blue color.
To distinguish these two minerals, it is sufficient to observe the shade of blue, which tends to ink blue in lapis lazuli, to opaque blue in sodalite, and observe the presence or absence of pyrite (golden yellow) inside the mineral, as this it is present in lapis lazuli while it is absent in sodalite. "
Please keep in mind that the size and color of the specimens may vary slightly due to the fact that each mineral is unique.
You will always receive pieces that are of equal or superior quality to those in the photos.
