Chrysoprase Leaf Pendant

Chrysoprase is a variety of chalcedony, therefore belonging to the family of cryptocrystalline quartz. Its typical color is green, due to the presence of nickel atoms in the crystal lattice due to inclusions of willemseite fragments. The name derives from the Greek chrysoprásios or chrysóprasos which literally means "golden apple". The presence of nickel is linked to the hydrothermal formation from aqueous solutions rich in this element.
