The moonstone is a variety of adularia that derives its name from the Adula massif, in the Lepontine Alps, where it was discovered in 1780 by the naturalist Ermenegildo Pini. It is a mineral of the subclass of tectosilicates belonging to the feldspar group, consisting of rhomboid crystals of greenish color due to the inclusions of chlorite. It was used by the ancients to capture the lunar energy. In ancient Rome, it was believed that it originated from lunar rays which, hitting the rock, transformed it. It has always been a stone connected to the female universe.According to some legends, in ancient times, fortune-tellers dressed as women held a moonstone in their mouth to be able to see the future.
