Aquamarine is a variety of beryl with a light blue, light blue or even greenish color. It owes its color to the presence of titanium and iron within the crystalline lattice of the mineral. Its name comes from the Latin "aqua marina" "aquamarine", as its color is reminiscent of the color of the sea. This color is due to traces of iron in the structure of the beryl. Aquamarine was used as an amulet by sailors to protect themselves from the dangers of the sea.
